Apprentices

An apprenticeship means you earn while you learn. It is a nationally recognised training programme that combines real work with learning and training, both on the job and in college. Construction apprenticeships are available for you if you are aged 16 - 24 years old.

How does CoTrain work?

You will be fully employed from the first day of your training in the trade of your choice, and will be placed with a range of different contractors to work towards your apprenticeship.

CoTrain works with a number of key contractors in the region and knows where future work is taking place. We identify the best work placements for our apprentices in a large number of trades, including:

  • Site carpentry
  • Painting & decorating
  • Plastering
  • Bricklaying
  • General Construction Operatives(Groundworkers)
  • Fitted Interiors
  • Floor and wall tiling
  • Technician (planning, purchasing, estimating, surveying, general & civil)

If you are successful in gaining an apprenticeship with CoTrain, you will be employed by us from your first day, but placed with a number of different contractors whilst you work to complete your training.

What can CoTrain do for you?

You are never alone once you start your programme with CoTrain. You will have a mentor to provide on-going support and to ensure that you always have someone on hand to give you information and help with any problems.

We'll give you exposure to, and experience of, a wide range of companies, contractors and sites

We will ensure continuity of employment making every effort to ensure placements are within reasonable travelling distance from home

We'll organise your training with a college in your area, with regular reviews every 12 weeks both on site and in college

At the end of your apprenticeship you'll get a valuable qualification that employers all over the country will recognise

You will be employed from the start of your training with a wage that increases as you continue with your apprenticeship
